Piijt

Player Valuation: £20m
As he's now the manager of West Ham, it's surely only a matter of time before our name is mentioned and the younger of our supporters may consider him alright as he's an ex Blue. Well he's not alright, far from it, he's an utter fraud who milked us for every penny he could. We were broke and pretty crap at the time, still are broke apparently... As ex-Everton players go, I can't think of one I hate as much as him.

Joe Royle bought him in March 1997 (no transfer windows then) from West Ham for £4.5 million but he refused to move until the end of the season as he said he wanted to help West Ham avoid relegation. It was a load of bull, they finished above us. The reality was he had a £200,000 loyalty clause which he pocketed at the end of the season. Hammers fans didn’t swallow it and turned against him.

He eventually started for us in August 1997 under Howard Kendall, and when he played he was decent although we didn't see too much of him as he liked collecting cards, he missed 9 matches due to suspension. Despite this, he had a "you'll never beat the Bilic" song, we liked him. Then it all started to go wrong after the '98 World Cup. He came back a bit of a hero, Croatia got 3rd place but he'd picked up some form of groin injury. He said he had to go back to Croatia for rest with his family, he was gone for months. It dragged on and on for ages with him claiming he couldn't play yet he managed bizarrely to play for Croatia. Eventually we ended up bunging him £1 million to pay off his contract. As soon as the cheque had cleared he went back to Croatia and signed for Hajduk Split. He's a qualified lawyer, he knew exactly what he was doing, it hurt.

I seriously hope there's no "let's give a big Goodison welcome back" announcement when they roll into town

whatever else about Bilic, why would anyone leave a club in March when they could walk away with £200,000 in their pocket by leaving a mere six weeks or two months later?

And the Hammers fans seem to have forgiven and forgot, given the way they sang his praises today......so why should we bear a grudge almost twenty years later?

A certain Wayne Rooney was welcomed back with a rousing reception last Sunday.

Know this about football fans......we are the very epitome of existentialism.

Fickleness rules ;)

I was dead excited when we signed him, really rated him but it went badly wrong here. Seems a decent manager though.

I did like his comments today though.

Said something like, Arsenal may have quality but they shouldn't out fight us.

Didn't work out for him here but don't hold no grudges as I'd advise anybody to take as much as they possibly can from their employers, Seems ok at the manager lark as well.

Clearly he hadn't met Wenger before, getting short-shrift when trying to engage him in conversation at the final whistle.

LOL at 'didn't work out' as if it was the luck of the draw, just one of those things.

When you say take as much as you can from your employer, do you mean stand up for yourself, don't get pushed around and demand the maximum in return for an honest day's work?
Or do you mean swing the lead, fraudulently go on the sick, let your workmates down who were depending on you, then steal from the till? Because that's what Bilic did with us, and did it when the club was at its absolute lowest ebb in the last 50 years. So the OP is bang on and a timely reminder to all Blues of what a self-serving scumbag Slaven Bilic was when he wore the Royal Blue jersey.

He could've been great but just took us for a ride. I was well pleased when he first signed. Went downhill after that though eh?

He seemed reluctant to come and took ages to actually turn up. His performances were usually nothing to write home about and he left in more of a hurry than he arrived. Good luck to him but Everton owe him nothing..........
