Sky Q

Hi

Has anyone got Sky Q?

Is it worth it?

Did you get a better deal than online? Currently 199 plus 12 quid a month?

Do you need to take multiform to get the 4K TV signal?

Thanks in advance

Steve
Hi Steve
I have Sky, but, haven't upgraded to Sky Q. The main reason being that you are then committed to a new 18 month contract.
I tend to ring up and cancel Sky every 12 months and I have always been offered a good deal to stay. I currently have 75% off plus £100 credit and can cancel at any time.

I have Sky Q. The remote is too small, the EPG is a pain and I don't have a TV or minibox in the bog to watch when I'm on a finisher after watching Babestation.

Box Sets are good though if you up your sub to £18 a month.

The multi-room aspect of it is very good,Where you don't need all the cables and just connects via wi-fi. It's better how you can, record multi shows and not have to cancel other shows.

The set up and controllers take time, getting used to them. Did anyone else get two controllers when they upgraded to sky q? We've had it a couple of months now and still can't work the touchpad on it. 4K is decent on it too, like a previous poster mentioned, not as good as blu-rays though.

Doesn't an adjustment have to be made to the LNB on your dish and to your router for Sky Q?

I have Sky HD and 2 other satellite systems running in parallel, and for that reason I'm reluctant to have a Sky engineer come and upset things, on the last occasion I got multiroom in the kitchen the guy cut through my TV cable!

It looks tidy but if you moved my TV unit forward it's like the server room at the CIA.

If it was just a case of swapping boxes I would be more sold on the idea>

Getting it fitted later today - our previous Sky+HD box had a fault and cost a ton to repair/replace, but SkyQ was £50 and they don't make the old box anymore so had no choice.

We'll see......
You never, ever get the box fixed. Just tell them you want a new box free of charge. When they say No, which they probably will, just say that you want to close your account. They'll probably go through the motions but hang in there and a week later they'll come after with an offer of a new box.

The LNB is replaced during the install so if you have 'freeview' satellite boxes in the house also then you have to request that an OEM LNB be fitted rather than the Sky Q one.
