Ski resort I worked at after college - did a lift destruction test on an outdated lift that couldn't be resold or repurposed, so they worked with the State Tramway Board and others to do a destruction test. Uncontrolled rollback is a scary thing. My kids know - if a lift rolls back more than 50 feet, jump.
