Player Valuation: £35m
The first weekend of games (without crowds) kicks off tomorrow with

Italy vs France at 2.15

England vs Scotland 4.45

And then on Sunday

Wales vs Scotland 3.00

England showing quite a few enforced changes tomorrow as well as a more muscular midfield. The main problems are in the pack, especially the props, Kyle Sinkler is banned and Mako Vunipola and Joe Marler injured meaning starts for both Ellis Genge and Will Stuart. A further injury blow to Sam Underhill means Tom Curry switching over to open side flanker and Mark Wilson coming in at blindside, with on loan Saracens' flanker Ben Earl only making the bench. In the second row they've decided not to start Courtney Lawes who missed all Autumn through injury and without Billie Twelvetrees have brought in Jonny Hill to partner Maro itoje

So very much a chopped, changed and patched up pack who will do well to hold their own, so many changes, both personal and positional, usually means no cohesion it's likely therefore to be a bit of a struggle to even gain parity up front against a far more experienced Scottish front row.

In the backs George Ford is benched meaning Farrell at 10 with the muscular centre partnership of Ollie Lawrence and Henry Slade. This possibly the way they envisage life post Tuilagi

As in football, a side showing multiple changes, both positional and personnel, usually finds it tough even if it looks strong enough on paper, and I can see England lacking that crucial timing and understanding that only comes with playing together.

Against that most of the backs are familiar faces with only the positional change at inside centre to bulk up the midfield, but it's the pack who usually decide who wins a game and England look far weaker than for some time. Expect this to be very close indeed and i wouldn't be at all surprised if they lost.

Gonna be a weird 6N. Home advantage basically wont me anything with no fans.

Will it even be completed? Who knows.

Wales, Ireland and to some degree Scotland all in some kind of transition still.

For Ireland Caelan Doris, who has probably been Ireland's (certainly Leinster's) best back row for 18 months is desperately unlucky to miss out with injury.

James Lowe gets the nod on the wing.

Theres a few fringe players around the provinces I'd love to see get some mins over the next few weeks, Hugo Keenan starting at 15 is a good trend. He is realky excellent.

Very hard to pick a winner this year but England's resources despite injuries might mean they'll start favourites. They may struggle tomorrow but should improve and have France at home. Usually home advantage does make more of a difference despite no crwd but far more so if it's abroad as in the case of Ireland and France. You could point to England struggling against France reserves in the Autumn, that's a match they were expected to win at a canter and were hopeless in, although they did at least win in the end. England struggled but finally found a way to win both tournaments last year, belyng the the usual World Cup hangover that so often leaves World Cup final losers in pieces the following season.

England

France

Ireland

Scotland

Wales

Italy

Wouldn't be surprised if Scotland won tomorrow though so it's a very dodgy looking prediction, also Italy might fancy their chances of actually handing the wooden spoon to Wales this year, Italy vs Wales could be key if Wales don't start well against Ireland. Italy will lose every other game by large margins.

I've always thought it should revert back to the five nations, getting absolutely murdered every match does noone any favours least of all Italy. I'm convinced they were only kept in as it's a great weekend in Rome, but with no fans even that excuse has gone.

I think it's well over twenty matches since they last avoided defeat, and that was probably a shock against someone having a nightmare season,

Not sure about the twenty odd games feels like 90 odd to me

They’re very similar to Argentina, in that they really look the part, but always seem to fall to pieces.

Argentina beat the All Blacks this year. Italy are miles from that.

Dupont is an amazing player is really my only takeaway from that stomping. I also can't stand the Italy 10s face.

Argentina aren't anywhere remotely near tbh, they've had impressive results this year against both NZ and Australia.

If Italy played NZ home or away one hundred times they would be in danger of doing the impossible and losing 101 times they're that bad

First time in 20 odd years that I haven’t got tickets for at least one match of the Six Nations , though last year tickets were refunded . The Six Nations is one of the greatest sporting tournaments in the world, shame there won’t be any fans to enhance the experience. In many ways though these days it’s become so much easier to see things on Tv , but you don’t really appreciate the sheer physicality unless you’re there .
A predictable canter for France in the opener. Hard to see beyond England beating Scotland here , it may be close for 60 mins but looking at the bench the England front row is capable of handling Scotland’s starting front row and will likely demolish the Scot’s bench front row when both benches are on. On the other hand ..... who knows these days without crowds.

In the Premiership Rugby games I’ve seen this season , the refs have been very sharp at shouting ‘ “Use it” at the scrum half as soon as the ball is available at the back of a ruck, following up with a “ C’mon then “ a few seconds later. It certainly speeds up the game so it’ll be interesting to see how this is reffed.
