Finished the 5th and final season last night in a ball of tears, honestly.

Stunning television, watching the boxsets over these past few months has had more of a personal affect on me than anything else I think i've ever watched.

Far from perfect (it lulls big time in season three much like The Wire did for me) and dealing with some pretty hard hitting yet ultimately unavoidable issues, it's inspired me to make amends me with a few people in my life and given me a greater pleasure in basically just being around...it's a pretty f*cking great show.

Has anybody else ever had the pleasure of seeing this?

One of the best shows I've ever seen.

The finale is my favourite TV finale and the final scene is probably my favourite scene (film or television) of all time.

The Wire's still top drama dog, but Six Feet Under runs it close. I'd recommend it to anyone, with a warning that it will draw tears from even the most cold-hearted of viewers.

Blues should like it, as you mentioned in your rep RFUS.

Created by Alan Ball with several episodes being directed by a guy called Miguel Arteta, whammo!

Ball is also behind True Blood which (pre-season 4) was also one of the best things on TV. Although it's a completely different kind of show.

Funnily enough I'm on the third series of The Wire at the moment, stopped half way through though not revisited it in 2 months. I have no idea what Six Feet Under is about, but I might give the first series a go.

I'm not big on politics so the third season of The Wire is definitely my least favourite, funnily enough when Carcetti actually became mayor at the back end of that season (and the beginning of the fourth) my interest in it picked right up again.

I guess electoral campaigns aren't my thing.

Six Feet Under has your boy Michael C. Hall playing David Fisher, who turned out as my favourite character in the end.

It's about a family run Funeral Home in California called Fisher & Sons, every week a member of the public comes to an untimely end and usually their funeral (and embalming/presentation process) centres around whatever is going on in the lives of the Fishers themselves.

It stares the inevitability of death right in the face whilst sharing pretty emotional and poignant messages about love, loss and life itself, all mixed in with a very heavy dose of black comedy.

Check it out and give it time, RFUS and I can guarantee that the ending will take your breath away.

Well that's as good a start as any.

I'll give is a go, sounds pretty unconventional and like my sort of thing.

Watched 1st and 2nd series I think, then it was one of those missed it and didn't get back into it after that things. Probably cos of shiftwork or something.

The how they met their maker bit at the beginning had me howling at times.

I didn't watch in on Channel 4 when it first came out, it was probably on at 11pm on a Thursday night or something ridiculous and I believe they didn't show the last season at all.

&& yeah, some hilarious openings...the one where the woman gets wiped out by an ice cube from an aeroplane took me massively by surprise.

head out of the sunroof in a stretch limo I recall, think it was a 12.30 Tuesday C4 type prog.
