Silly Season advice

TX Bill

Player Valuation: £80m
I know everyone is getting worked up because we haven't brought five or six players in yet but I'd think that by now, we all know how it works around here.

Last year we were linked with everyone under the sun. The two players we did sign (Fellaini & Jacobsen) were never linked to us in the press and were a complete surprise to everyone. Jo came in on loan and to my recollection, that was out of the blue as well.

I'm confident that Moyes & Kenwright (when he's not answering stupid questions at supporter meetings) are working around the clock to get players in that fit our transfer budget and wage structure.

But if you're relying on the press to get your nuggets of information, you're going to be disappointed over and over and over and over again.

There's a reason it's called the "silly season"

Yes, but why can't we try to bring in the players in decent time so they can settle in before the season kicks off. Too many off seasons I've seen Everton wait until the last minute to sign players, two weeks in to the season and then it takes a further month for the new players to settle in.

I'm not upset that we don't sign all player we're connected with, I'm upset that we still haven't made a single additon to the squad compared to the end of last season and kick off is only three weeks away.

But who says we aren't trying?

I don't have a clue as to who Moyes has spoken with in terms of clubs and players and neither does anyone else.

We "know" (or, no we don't, but reports tell us bla bla bla) that Elm was at Merseyside last week, but still nothing has happened there. We also "know" we had an offer accepted for Naughton but wasn't able to wrap up the deal in time before 'Arry came in.

I trust Moyes, he's probably the best manager around, I just wish that the we could sign players earlier in the summer.

Spot on, TX, all I would add is that Moyes knows exactly what is needed to add quality to the team. If you look at some of the players who we know he's made moves for (Defour, Owen, Naughton, Elm) you can see this. Have faith, Moyes knows what he's doing, he may get knocked back a few times, but he will being in the right kind of players at the right price.

Getting ******* sick of being told that everything is going to be ok. Im not ******* 5 years old. My eyes are wide open, we need players and we needed them 3 weeks ago. Anybody that cant see that is blind, wake up and smell the coffee.

Yes we have a decent squad, but we have players of really shitness, players like Hibbert and Osman. They are not good enough for a team that hopes to push for a top 4 finish, we have got no chance at all of pushing with the current squad. Everybody keeps looking at 2 5th finishes and thinks we will keep repeating it. Great we might, but I highly doubt it.

The window has been open for more than a month and we have only got 1 player in on loan. For whatever reason, thats a complete ******* joke. There is less than 3 weeks untill the season starts and even our manager said we need to get the players in early. Still not 1 player.

Its really starting to get on my nerves people constantly saying " Dont worry ". Im worried, worried we will fall behind, worried that we will AGAIN miss a chance to kick, a chance to get back to our place as the best team in the land if not the world.

Whats holding us back? The board, the utter smarmy little clowns who control this club at board level. They havent invested 1 penny into this football club. They have left 1 of the best managers in the game to make his own money, so not only does he have to pull his tripe out getting the best out of his players, he has to play count the pennys.

He should give the clowns a list, they should get the players on the list, no excuses. If Spurs come in and bid more, match the ******* bid, I dont even care of its merits, our manager wanted a player, the board yet again failed to get the player for him. Its a joke however you look at it.

We have holes within the squad, not just the first team, the whole squad needs beefing up. So we arent signing Moutinho, Defour, ,Cana, we cant even attract a young Swede playing in a dogwank league.

This is what I think, no amount of "stop crying" and "silly season advice" is going to change my mind. Its not suddenly going make me think, oh great, I shouldnt worry, because everything is going to be ok. Everything MIGHT turn out in the end, but surely we should be MAKING SURE it turns out ok, by getting the players in our manager wants and getting them in plently of time.

The board must go, it must go NOW and it must be replaced by somebody, anybody that can support our Manager.

Calm the **** down, if you feel you could do better you'd better speak to Kenwright. Are you forgetting that there's over 4 weeks til the end of the transfer window. How about getting behind the club instead of ripping them and winging? Or **** off. Its not helping anyone.

Spot on Goat, that summarises the situation very clearly.

As for TXB who started the thread how does he counter that we tried very hard on the 2 Kyles and Elm and where are we, if we leave our signings until late on?

How long before the 'dithering Dave' strategy is trundled out by the Kenwright apologists to deflect? It was about this time last year it was employed. It was very effective last summer but it only gained traction because it was combined with the manager's unsigned contract. I still reckon we'll see some of this shortly though: "Get yer finger out yer ginger **** and sign someone".

WHAT???? Give me Kenwrights number, I will speak to him, gladly. Are YOU fogetting that the season starts in 3 weeks??

And dont tell me to fcuk off, its my view im allowed it. So I suggest its you that needs to go forth and multiply.

How is it "getting behind the club" to sit back and quietly endure the totally shocking failure to make even one proper signing? Surely by expressing one's concern at the failure to bring in new players, it applies extra pressure to the club to compel them to do exactly that?

All true Goat. We will not continue to compete in the top six never mind break into the top four, if the manager is not supported with cash for signings. Year after year he has achieved success beyond his means, yet we never build on it and kick on.

If things stay as they are this will be Moyes last season. I could even see him walking sooner if people like Ancellotti or Hughes don't have some early success.

FFS back the manager or lose him.

Ranting on a forum ain't gonna solve a [Poor language removed] thing is it? You're old enough so grow the **** up. TX Bill is entitled to his opinion. This is turning into Kipper

TX's points remain valid. The club have the same objectives that we do, they're fully aware of the importance of completing transfers early where possible, but things don't always work out as planned.

We were unlucky not to land Kyle Naughton. Elm could still join us - that's up in the air. But the point is surely that we only know a fraction of what's going on. The club will be in contact daily about various possible buys about which we know nothing. It's ok to worry about what will happen between now and deadline day. But have a little faith. The club are committed to supporting Moyes by giving him the means to strengthen the side, and we do have money to spend (remember that 15 million euro bid for Defour).

Truthfully TX is not spot on. Each season for several now, Everton's squad gets smaller and smaller. For a team that is the best of the rest outside the top four, we desperately need a much larger squad, especially now that we qualify for Europe on a regular basis. Now, for a team that is supposedly the best of the rest, how is it that we cannot attract the players that the likes of Villa, Spurs etc can?? These are the real questions that need to be sought. Moyes is superb and will most likely pull another rabbit out of a hat, unfotunately though, we need six rabbits and not one on transfer deadline day.
