Should you get time off when your pet dies?

Compassionate leave for pets is literally an insane idea.

Does anyone have the faintest idea how a policy like that would work apart from wishy washy I want time off to be sad ideas?

Take annual leave. If you can't cope then go to the doctors and get signed off with low mood.

I'm not discompassionate I'm realistic, it's literally one of the most insane ideas I've ever heard.

I had to get my dog put to sleep last weekend due to a sudden illness. I buried him last Sunday night so there was no way in hell I could face work the next day. My boss was fine about it and I went in the day after.

It's a cliché, but pets are like family and it can be devastating when they go.
