I am stunned to find of all the teams in Europe, our battling band of blue shirted heroes have got us to this place.

The Hypercube Infostrada Euro Club Index scientifically analyses hundreds of thousands of matches from the top divisions in all European nations as well as Europa League and Champions League games.

The Index takes into account all matches played over an eight-year period but with recent results carrying more weight than older ones. The most recent result has 20 times more impact than a result of three years ago etc etc

Maybe the rest of Europe is rubbish. The four are the top four in my view. Borussia Dortmund have had lean years but top the Biundesliga. It does say modern day results are weighed more heavily, which in my view gives a better reflection. Some teams, no names here, live on past glories.

Looks quite authoritative. There is another interesting page on the website where they predict the results of matches. So for instance Manchester United v Everton is 72% chance home win, 20% draw, 8% away win. Not hugely encouraging ... but then they did also give Manchester United a 62% chance of beating Newcastle.

Utd are odds on for Saturday we are 11/2 in a two horse race. Utd haven't scored for two games....a win will send us roaring up through the European ranks.

It's nonsense. Borussia Dortmund have blown the Bundesliga away this year, which means that they, right now, at this very moment, are easily the best side in Germany. It's pretty much as the old adage goes, you're only as good as your last result; all this claptrap about results over previous years, it's meaningless in telling you how good your team is at this moment.

Interesting that we're sandwiched between PSV and Ajax and that we've gained 14 points this year. Liverpool have moved 3 places further ahead of us by adding another 37 points for the campaign.

We're apparently better than Bordeaux, Athletico Madrid, Juventus, Werder Bremen and Sporting.

You get different points for beating different teams though, so wins in the prem will carry a better tarrif than say in Belgium, due to all this uefa coefficient thingy, which we flew up until meeting Fiorentina.
so cos our teams have done reasonably well in europe the points for games in our league will also increase, as will if you beat teams higher than you.
