Should Tim Flowers ever been England's #1 Goal Keeper?

I like them too.

It's like watching Premier League Years and then having a chat about it.

Boss.

On a side. How boss a player was Zola at Chelsea? Very boss is the answer.
Follow up question.

Who would you rather have in their prime: Zola or Mata?

Fairly sure Chelsea fans voted Zola their best ever player, so it's going to be Gian really isn't it.

Think Mata is the better player, tbh.

But he's playing in a much better team so he doesn't have the same effect. Zola was a legend because he was there for years and loved the club, put in a lot of effort and helped transform a modest club into regular trophy winners.

Mata came into a successful team so didn't have the same impact but in terms of quality he belongs in the same bracket.

Unusually I completely disagree. I think Zola was overall better than Mata as he is at the moment, have to see if he improves even more in the next few years, he probably will. Also I don't think the Chelsea Mata came into is much better than the ones Zola was in, quite similar level I'd say.

The only england game i can remember Flowers playing in was when England beat Italy 2-0 in "Tournois Le France"

He did very well if I recall

I do think he was an important factor in Blackburn winning the league in 94/95 as well. What I would say though is that I think Sutton was the final piece of the puzzle. Took some of the burden of Shearer as far as the goal scoring went

Football in the mid 90s was the tits. Some brilliant striker partnerships too. Fowler and Collymore, Shearer and Sutton, Ferdinand and Asprilla, Cantona and Cole, Yorke and Mihalovic....Rideout and Stuart....

Remember that game well. I was ten minutes late getting in and we were already two nil down.

We lamped them all over over Goodison but just couldn't get the second, never mind third goal. If we'd have won no one would have denied us the victory.

...except flowers

Eh, I rate Mata more than most do.

He was my premier league player of the year both this year and last.

I reckon Mata looks very similar to Anders Limpar.

I enjoy these threads like as i'm fond of watching the Premiership years and seeing what i missed out on. I also quite like going on youtube and watching full games from years way before my birth, love watching Brazil in the 70's, tis a shame there ain't many Everton ones on there save for highlights.
