Should Rooney be dropped??

Ha ha, no idea Bruce.... But just by being on the pitch he gives his teammates a lift and occupies the minds of the opposition...... That's before he's Ben kicked the ball lol.

Does he though? I think the fear factor regarding Rooney has had it's day, can't remember seeing him take a game by the scruff off it's neck and well he's looked past his peak for a while now, thinks he is better then he is which has stopped him reaching his full potential.

His potential was based around his mercurial ability on the ball and the way you couldnt tell what he was going to do next. Sure he had the technical quality, finishing and strength to be a good player but that unpredictability on the ball was what made him potentially great. When SAF coached it out of him to get that more consistent player, that xfactor was lost, and so whilst he went on to be a very good player today, he never ended up like the world class player he could have been.

Another big call! I like it. Not disagreeing like...

He's also lost that little burst of pace he had in his younger years, and the ability to go past players and away from players. Nowadays it's all about making half a yard to get a shot or pass off from in and around that little pocket of space he's always lurking around.

He's had his prime era Rooney and that was early 20's. He's still a great player don't get me wrong...Just different that's all !!

Having said all this he was absolutely quality for United last season. Had 19 goals and 15 assists in 40 games (including Europe).
Singlehandedly kept them in the top 10 IMO, would have been even more disastrous without him.
If he can transfer any of that form to England then he has to be retained as a starting player.

I would take Rooney, personally.

On a good day, we know more than most that he's great.

If correctly motivated.

Play him upfront, or don't play him at all.

Unless he's super-super up for it, then just keep giving him the ball.

Agree. He's the best forward we have, Sturridge has disappointed up to now and I wish Roy would have the bottle to play Rooney and Ross with Llanana just behind them.

Sturridge is an erratic finisher. Always has been, always will be. Rooney is a composed finisher. Problem with Rooney is he won't stay up front!!

Lots of media and fan cries for him to be dropped...

As good as he is are England better off with no Rooney?

What you think ??

Does he start in Brazil?

In 2004 Sven's only plan was to hope Rooney didn't get injured

In 2014 Roy's plan ( he might not know it yet mind ) is to hope Rooney gets Injured

In 1986 England were going no where until Robson was FORCED to change it with Wilkins getting sent off and did Robson get injured as well can't remember.

I do remember Reid coming on and start Bossing people about like he was the Capt.

Who was the Capt. btw

Just goes to show an armband doesn't make you a Capt ( eh Pip )
