Should penalty decisions all be checked by 4th referee using video evidence?

Why can't video evidence be used when referees give a penalty to prevent divers conning referees and linesmen/refs making bad calls?

There is a stop in play why cant it be done it takes no more than 60seconds.

Decisions DO NOT even themselves out over the season.

If the game is stopped anyway then I don't see why not. Problem is, it sets a precedent, if you do it for pens, do you then have to do it for free kicks and corners?

how do they re-start play? drop ball in the 6 yard box? they just need proper training and for at least some of the greedy bastards who take so much money out of the game to give something back because they have a better understanding. I know they wouldn't be able to do it for any more than a decade, but it would be nice to see like. they all state how much they love football after all

Can't ever see it being done, it's just going to get abused in some form. If any sort of replay is allowed I still think both sides should have one call per match and that's it. Doesn't matter the situation, but it's just one call and you're done.

like in ice hockey play continues till the ball goes out or a free kick given. if its a penalty its a penalty. if its not a penalty then play stops where it happens

in the stanley cup. montral scored a goal that went over the line in overtime - first goal wins - play continued and philadephia went up and scored. refs checked the montreal goal and it did go over the line so they won and philadephia lost.
with the speed of a puck being hit its hard to know.

just doesn't sit easy with me, i mean can you imagine how furious you'd be if everton score and then the ref has to go an check a decision 3 mins later and disallow the goal to give the opposition a penalty. they go and score than and are level in the game, whereas we've lost 3 mins to go out and try and re-take the league.

retrospective action needs to be undertaken to stop diving 3 game bans all over the shop for me. If the ref spots it there and then and is absolutely certain. he can then ask the 4th official, just to check before sending the player off, seeing as he's already blown up to give the free kick anyway.

I have no idea why this isn't in play.

The time it'd take wouldn't be as long as players crowding the referee anyway, so why not?

SCENARIO may 19th 2013 - 17.54
wigan - aston villa last day of the season 1-1 last minute. wigan need to win to survive aston villa will go down if they lose

94TH minute - wigan get a penalty it's a dive, villa are appealing like crazy. penalty scored villa go down financially miss the new tv deal. wigan get the tv deal.

HOW IS THAT RIGHT? We have the technology. the ref could ask the 4th official and the right decision given.

but it routes out divers and referees making stupid decisions to big sides.

No it wouldn't.

You seem to under the assumption that the video ref would not just back up the decision of the on pitch ref. And if he did overule him the team who lost out would still moan as much and claim the vid ref got it wrong.
