Should Loan deals be banned?

A better thing to do would be to make publically available (as IIRC they do in Spain) details of all transfers and all player contracts, including loans.

No, especially the all levels bit.

There are teams (like Barrow, my non league team) who survive on month long loans. We can only really afford about 13/14 players on one season contracts so loan deals from clubs like Rochdale, Burnley & Blackpool are our lifeblood at the moment and has been for a few years.

keep loan deals

I remember when English clubs couldn't send loan players to a club in the same division. The current loan rule is in favour for the rich clubs, buying every talented teenager and then send them out on loan to "smaller clubs" in the same division.

I am a fan of the old rule that prohibit clubs like Chelsea and Manc C to attract young players with astronomical wages and send them out to their rivals. I agree with Jaco93 !

There could be something that distinguishes between sending out a home-grown academy player to get some experience, and snapping up a kid with potential and sending them straight out on loan, simply so that you own them and not a rival.

Maybe if there was a rule that prevented a player being sent out on loan within 12 months of being signed, it might dissuade the player joining in the first place (as they'd have to sit in the ressies for a year), or may encourage the buying club to leave alone until the player is ready for regular first team action.

No.

Just stop the abuse of the system. Back in 2005, Chelsea were the first to start the crap of not letting your loanees play against you, whilst other teams didn't have a problem. I think the FA got tired of the fudge and confusion so it became set in stone..Loan players could not play against their parent club.

Chelsea now abuse the system by stockpiling youth players just so no one else can get them, then loaning them out forever. 44 out on loan last season alone.

I lost count of McEachran and his many loans, not to mention Chalobah.

Maximum of 10 loan players 5 within English league and 5 European loans.
No loans just till a player can get a work permit. It's complete and utter BS. If the player doesn't qualify for a work permit then don't buy him.

Joel Campbell is a perfect example. We've pee'd around with that boy's career. Loaning him out till he could get a work permit, then not giving him a proper chance and now, taking the pee over what fee Sociedad and Moyes can pay for him. Without the ridiculous loan-to-get-work permit fix, this kid could have established himself with some club in Spain by now instead of being labelled a journeyman in his early 20s.

No other trade in the UK gets away with that crap, why should football.

Rant over.

clubs buy players for the sake of it anyway, way the game works

SWP was only signed to stop arsenal getting him
Cuduardo was only signed to stop barca getting him

to name a couple.

in fact i have a theory that chelsea plan to sell their young players to balance the books every year just to buy them back when they develop. Matic left and come back a first team player, lukaku could be the same as well. Remember selling them balances the books for that year, then when they sign them back they can sell other players to balance that amount

No. What's needed is a 25 player max for guys over 18 and if you loan one of those out you are stuck with 24.

Absolutely not, helps teams with less money to be more competitive creating a better league and spectacle for fans, and it helps players develop and get more game experience.

The loan system is to be applauded, very good for the game IMO.

What benefits would there be of banning them?

It would stop clubs like Chelsea buying all the good prospects and being able to basically hire them out whilst reaping the benefits both financially and on the pitch if they come good. it's an old system which is open to abuse now. Clubs signing players that have no realistic chance of first team football are bought then loaned out for fee's which can be quite high whilst still owning them. it's a win/win for the richer clubs whilst the poorer ones can only afford to take them on season long loan deals and never benefit financially. the players would still be playing football they would just be owned by the clubs they were actually playing for and they(the clubs)would be benefiting from any development and investment rather than just throwing their money away.
