Keep the ones you most love , and if needed ... sell the rest .
Also , does have any recommendations of a good record player ?
Look for any these older decks, which perfected turntableness just before cd lowered everybody's expectations of what hifi should sound like on ebay etc. (In order of best at the top depending on your budget;
Elite Rock
Linn Sondek
Roxan Xerxes
Thorens
Golding Lenco
Rega Planar 3
Rega Planar 2
Dual cs505

Diamond stylus is the key, it's the first point of contact.
Diamond is your cut throat razor
Sapphire etc is your butter knife.
Well it used to be, or has technology advanced?

I wouldn't take them to a store regardless of how good or honest they are. They're looking to sell them on so won't give you anything close to market value.

I've never sold on Discogs but it is a good site for valuations but you might have to dig down and get the exacts such as Matrix codes and whatnot as they're pretty specialist. I've sold a few things on Ebay with no problems so long as you take decent pictures and fill out the fields correctly. Work out their cut first though and don't skimp on the posting - Proper tracked delivery and good packaging.

And grade harshly - underpromise and overdeliver as any disagreements inevitably go the way of the buyer on Ebay regardless of the facts of the matter.

Thanks Claus, I've got photos and good packaging sorted. The grading is tricky as you want to be honest about the condition but don't want to put buyers off by making it sound like you've just found it at the back of the dog's kennel.

Thinking of selling my old records as I rarely play them any more and they will fetch a tidy sum on Ebay. Lots of original vinyl including The Clash, Sex Pistols, very early U2, The The, Jesus and Mary Chain etc. One record by The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu could fetch around £250. A bit of me feels like I am selling part of my youth - but I could do with the money. Should I sell now or wait until their value rises?
Intrigued here.
What Sex Pistols stuff you got?
I remember getting the Pistol Pack.

Just the two by the Sex Pistols - God Save the Queen and C'mon Everybody. Nice surprise yesterday when a record I thought wasn't worth much is going for £80 - Walk Across the Rooftops by The Blue Nile. "This time next year, Rodney."

Have you looked at Popsike ? You can search price trends there, there are rarer records that sell for less now then they did 15 years ago, trick is to buy against the trend or sell when stuff is hot.

I could of bought a QSTQ on A & M once, for 600, was in a shop on Portobello Road, 100% legit, I was talking to the owner about it but I passed it, this was high end going rate at the time though

Every "collectable" has a finite amount of time when other people value it and are also willing to purchase.

I think records still have a way to go and some may even increase in value but ..

I inherited a huge collection of cigarette cards years ago and sold most of them off at a decent price. Now I assume nobody collects these anymore and they are virtually worthless.
