Should heading be banned in football?

It's going to be those scull cap things and stopping kids doing it first. Heading will eventually become less and less until it's acceptable to outlaw it. Could be a halfway house of only allowing it in the penalty area.

Just a matter of time...

Reading that is grim, but there may be an inevitability to this. How will insurance markets react once the full extent of football-related brain injury is laid bare?

Why not eh? And while we're at it why not go the whole hog and just ban contact altogether, after all people can get hurt from nasty shoulder barges can't they?!

And we can't forget to tell the players that they're absolutely not run for prolonged periods as this can result in possible vertigo and all sorts of further complications.

Plus let's not forget to make sure we put a stop to both the fans and players alike saying bad things to each other because after all, words hurt too!

On a final note, we should abolish winners and losers to declare every game a draw so nobody ever gets upset (the blues will still contrive a way to lose the derby even with this rule in place!).

Yes this is the start of a new era when football finally does become the beautiful game!:dodgy:

I'd be willing to bet that if someone did a study of every single professional footballer in the world over the last 30 years and see how many have suffered from lasting injuries due to heading a ball it would be less than 0.01% of all players. If it was a significant number then I'd agree with it but it's not.

Some footballers need a bit of sense knocking in to them anyway. You need a brain to be able to get brain damage.

Footballs in the modern game (the actual ones they use in the prem = that cost about £150 to buy) are like fly aways.

Maybe a few decades ago but not now.

Youth games should have it stopped, certainly outside of academies. It’d help improve the technique of youth footballers as well as ensuring children are kept safe. It’s becoming clearer that heading can lead to serious long term damage and, whilst adults can make the call, children should be protected
