Think tonight's a one off but I'd like to see a match every Friday and I'm not sure what the reasons against it are.

Good thing or bad thing ?

Good thing. I used to go to a lot of FAI local games on a Friday night, loved it. Imagine Goodison would be rocking with a Friday evening kick off too.

I think a lot of match going fans would be against Friday nght football, and you can add Monday night football as well, thoughts ?

Thats it really. I quite like the idea of watching a match on a Friday, but if I was a United fan trying to get to Villa on the M6 on a summer Friday, I would not be best pleased.

And having the M6 closed most of today probably hasnt helped much either.

Given the traffic issues just about everywhere on a Friday evening, this is either intended to be off putting to the away supporters who travel by coach/car or a ploy to get everyone back in the train network.
Either way, just so long at Friday night footie is not stuffed full of Manure, the RS and bucket loads of ex-RS so-called pundits, I guess we'll just have to accept that once again, Sky and co are ruining still further the traditional Saturday afternoon footie refuge of the working man.

This is not a new thing.

It was tried in the 80s

@Dario Terracotta and @BlockHead will recall that after losing our first two games at the start of the '84/85 season, we went to Stamford Bridge on the evening of Friday August 31st and won 1-0 through a Kevin Richardson goal and the best season in our history was commenced.

;)

We beat Leeds away in a cup tie on a Friday night in that same season.

So there is nowt new under the sun, lids :)

BTW......from next season there will be up to ten EPL games played on a Friday night.

I have nothing against it in principle......but jeez louise, imaging how miserable your weekend would be if the misery started after defeat on the Friday night :(
