Another interesting stat analysis: Shots to Possession

Good to see we're leading that stat...

Although it is for the first half of the season, we had most amount of shots, and used our possession most effectively...

Then you look at the likes of Swansea and they have a truck load of possession but to not much shots, hence why tiki taka football doesn't mean success.

Be good to see up-to-date stats though, cause I think we've dropped off a bit with our penetrating possession...

The opposition cant score if you have the ball (keep possession) so although the maxim of 'you dont shoot you dont score' is the over riding factor to winning games trying to shore up the defence and stopping conceding is also worth its share of points.

I think it's an interesting but ultimately meaningless statistic.. if that isn't an oxymoron.

You could argue that a higher number of shots simply indicates an unwillingness or inability to really work a good opening. Obviously you can't have zero shots.. so there is an optimal ratio somewhere, but that will be different between difference teams with different styles.

For all the talk of Swansea playing great football they have been one of the most negative teams we've played since they got promoted.

To be fair to them the first three games played they tried to play a bit of football themselves and just got found out, It was a defensive display 3 weeks ago and it worked for them.
