Long time lurker and occasional liker...
I've had a theory for a while.
Basically I think that a manager who has instant success with a team, in the long-term will prove to be a disappointment. Seems to me that, like in the case of Martinez, short-term success was more down to the team left over and the nice mix that this made with their own ideas. The when the team plays the way they want, the team no longer plays as well.
Those who struggle initially, the likes of Ferguson at the start of his Man United tenure, then went on to have successful careers with that team. Same can be said for Klopp across the park, Pochettino at Spurs etc. Hopefully Koemans time here will follow this pattern.
Just wondering if the majority of cases fit this theory?
Looking forward to responses
