Shootings at War Memorial and Parliament in Ottawa, Canada

I'm in Ottawa at the moment and the entire city is in lock down as a shooter has shot a soldier standing guard at our National War Memorial (Approx 3 minutes walk from Parliament buildings).

The shooter, or perhaps another assailant, attacked the central Parliament building shortly after and was apparently shot by police inside the Parliament buildings.

As things have progressed, there are further reports suggesting up to 5 shooters involved.

The shopping center is about 3 minutes away from the Memorial. I used to work there, reports say there was no injuries.

Ta, I'm removed enough from the city but like most places I'm on lockdown. My cousin is an RCMP (Mounties) officer who works at the hill some times so I'm more concerned about him.

This is coming after the news that yetserday a Mastaer Warrant Officer with the Canadian Armed Forces who was in military dress was ran down by an Islamic Extremist in Quebec.

Questions are being asked how the shooter managed to get onto the Parliament grounds with the heighted level of security in response to the incident that happened yesterday. Members of the military are being advised to change into Civillian clothes if possible.

There is no indication that this is anything ISIS related yet, and I just came on the Ale House and saw that there wasn't a thread for it yet so I went ahead and made one. I was on the phone with my mum as it was all kickin off and the eyewitness reports of the first shooter at the war memorial appeared to indicate a Native Canadian with long black hair.

sadly this will be just a practise. they will hit it big at some point. i suspect theyll target malls and other puplic places soon.
