Shoot from outside the box

I think a more worrying issue is how slow we switch the ball and how we never seem to win the 2nd ball when one of our strikers wins a header around the box. We also don't seem to be able to counter attack at pace enough which is why we have struggled against teams who defend deep. How many times have we had a truly incisive breakaway without one of our players resorting to slowing the game down to allow the team shape to form again this season? The sad thing is that our players are better than this. I'm sure Moyes is aware of these issues and is trying to encourge our players to move the ball quicker.

whats the per-centages thing then KB

Higher failure percentages rate from shooting outside the box compared to in and around the area.

It's seems to be a bit lose in the past few games as we have shot from outside the area which is about time.

But when you read stuff like the fact moyes told carsley to stop shooting outside the box against the rs because he missed 2 in the first half... Only for him to do it again and score. Pienaar is taking lots of long range shots and corners for spurs nowdays etc and then you see the team not bothering to shoot and push outside, just adds up to me.

Moyes doesn't like shooting from outside the box. It's about the percentages.

That's what I don't understand. Moyes is all about the percentages. If you shoot, then it might just fly in, take a deflection, win us a corner or present a rebound opportunity. So, you'd think he'd be pro-shooting. Instead he seems to encourage the team to play their way to goal, which is much more about craft (or lack of it in our case).

yup. when we do have a go - WE SCORE ffs. we hammered tottenham 3-1 in a night game ages ago and there were shots going in all over the place. even the epl ball is made to act like a 2 and 6 swerver to encourage shooting- or am i wrong and it was the world cup ones. SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

I reckon , Tony Hibberts first long-range shot will fly into the top corner like an Exocet missile. Just before he pulls the trigger , Moyes will have worked out that he has -125451282115.3% chance of scoring. He will then forget totally about percentages altogether and will shout constantly " Shoot FFS " at every player. Even Howard
