You don't really ignore very good prospects because you have another good prospect on the books, we let both him and Dier go

Probably a good few more, but unless they really are exceptional it's very hard to pick who is going to make it at youth level as people develop at different rates, look how long we waited on osman before the snitch made it into the first team. It's Still not an exact science after all these years unfortunately

And going back a few years, we signed Mark Ward for what was a big fee back then, having released him several years before.
