It is indicative of this current age that freedom of speech is fast dissappearing. It is also clear that there are people who like to hide behind legal processes as opposed to making a full and truthful statement to explain their actions. For some the truth hurts and threats of legal action is their way of using a blunderbus to stifle speech.
