see a sheffield wednesday 11 got beaten today 14-0 by some random non-league side! now thats embarrasing haha

It wasn't even an XI, it was their youth team they sent out. Completely irresponsible by whoever's decision it was to play a bunch of kids against a Conference side (who, let's not forget, though they are not in the PL are all very good footballers). That defeat will cause huge damage to those kids' confidence, and whoever made that decision (Megson?) should be sacked.

I fear for my future tbh

Says it all.

Weren't we praising our management for testing our kids against full strength non league sides like Oxford and Marine?

They clearly misjudged this one, if that was the score, but I think the idea is sound.

Our youth side has been variously plucked from the four corners of Europe though, and that is what it takes to compete, as a bunch of kids, against Conference opposition. No way you can call a 14-0 defeat a misjudgement, it's downright incompetence.

If we had sent out our youth team against Birmingham at the weekend and gotten hit 14-0, and ruined the confidence of Hope, Dier, Garbutt, Lundstram etc people would be calling for rolling heads.

How'd you know it will ruin the confidence of the kids? It might make them stronger.

So they know they have to step up and play better and harder. Something to aim for and a taste of the real action. No point namby-pambying them then suddenly expecting them to become world class over night. It could well be the making of one or two of them. Test of character.

England went on a Rugby tour.

1st up a 76 point hammering against the Aussies in Brisbane.

hammered all over the shop but in comparison the game against the world champion Boks was a vast improvement.

The team that toured went on to become world champions.
