Probably a loada balls this (Mail etc) but could be true. Would only be worth it to beef up the numbers a bit and if he was dirt cheap. I've watched him ever since he was a kid at Celtic...shows flashes of aceness but, like McGeady, he can be pretty inconsistent. Quite old now too. Could 'do a job' though. Martinez's Hyperactive Shorterse Scots revolution continues (possibly)..

I think we miss Pienaar an awful lot when he's injured and I'm not against the idea of bringing in someone like this to try and plug the gap. £500k would be reasonable as I think that sort of wide player adds balance. Not wild about Maloney especially but as a short term measure I'd be ok with it

He played mostly in the Pienaar role for Wigan under Martinez on the left side but drifting inside while McManaman gave them proper width on the other flank
