At the very point where you're talking wearily into the camcorder begging Obama to release terrorists from Guantanamo and pleading for your life I'm sure you'll ponder how much of a better time you'd have had if you paid extra and went to Turkey or Greece mate.

To be fair mate, I think there's more chance of the plane ending up in the Red Sea than that happening.

Spent plenty of time in Jordan And Syria in recent years without any problems at all.

When was the last time you heard of a western tourist getting harmed by terrorists in the Middle East?

It's very rare. I like my odds.

On you go then pal. Best of luck.

Hope you suit a beard.

As the FCO website says, it's quote safe FOR NOW down at the Red Sea resorts. As far as the news reports go, no demos or violence has reached there. I'd say go for it.

Or, try somewhere like Tunisia. Or Libya.

Me and the family are off to the Radisson there in a couple of weeks.
I've got a couple of friends in Cairo who I've been speaking to and they assure me that it will be perfectly safe.

As long as I don't wear my "I thought Islam was the lion in Narnia" t-shirt.

I stayed at someone's house in SES during the time when there were riots in Cairo (the Port Said punishments, not the Arab Spring), I never felt unsafe. People are really friendly there. Most have moved from Cairo to start their own business. KFC and McDonalds deliver to your door. ;) The seafood restaurant 'Fares' is superb.

FFS, replies making me want to go even more.

£10pn for all you can eat and drink while staying in a bit of luxury?

Can't be any worse than Breck Road (where I'm from)

Tenner a night? ****ing tenner?

Lived there for a year, got a few friends in sharm still and they reckon its safe. Check out tavern bar naama bay on fb

In all seriousness, went last year and it was crap. Just get hassled everywhere you go. Would never go back again.
