Crazy stuff!!!!
From his Facebook page where he first posted the video:
This is not our normal type of video. I (their dad) went on a great white shark cave diving trip. Great white sharks are awesome and what appears to be an 'attack' on a diving cage is not. They are temporarily blinded when they open their mouths, so when the shark went for the tuna bait on the rope it accidentally slammed into the cage. They can't swim backwards so it thrust forward through the cage with a diver inside. Rest assured, no one was injured and after a dramatic half minute, the diver emerged safely. The crew on the boat did an outstanding job doing their best to make sure it had this happy outcome. These sharks are amazing creatures to be seen up close!
From the journo's who interviewed him:
The beginning of the video shows the shark lunging for the tuna used to lure it near the cage.
"The shark was not attacking the guy, he just slammed into the cage and they can't go backwards, so he just tried to blast forward and then busted up the railing on the side," said Brian.
“Sharks just don’t break into those cages very frequently, and the way it was thrashing around … [the diver] got kind of encouraged to escape the cage.”
The man caught beneath the shark in the cage was an experienced diving instructor from Shanghai.
As the shark thrashed above him, he slipped through the bars of the cage and could see two great white sharks below.
"He is very experienced, very calm, he kind of thought it through as much as he could."
Fortunately, the shark thrashed its way out of the top of the cage, and the diver was able to swim out unharmed moments later.
