Profits so far from Roberto's signings: £28M - with McCarthy, Niasse, Holgate, Tarashaj and Besic cash to come.

Probably overall we'll be in the black on Martinez's signings to the tune of £50+M.

£50+M profit on player trading
Best ever PL season
2 cup SF spots

...in three seasons.
The solid team that he inherited from Davey hid his incompetence by and large and it all began to unravel for him when he tried to put his own stamp on the team. If he was as good as you claim he would have built upon that first season and brought us further success. The fact that he was unable to proves that he was a fraud. He'll be remembered for promising us champions league and not delivering. That and threatening to sue for that ten million that he didn't deserve (I blame Kenwright).

I know by now I shouldn't bite but I will how has Martinez had our best ever PL season when moyes finished 4th that= champions league play off something Martinez never achieved
As goat said in an earlier post 4th doesn't get you on the honours list and to crow about a 5th place finish (riding on the back of Davey's shoulders) is downright delusional.

11 seasons to get a cup final appearance more than Martinez.

Moyes could have been here 22 seasons and still not had us playing good football and/or winning 21 games in a season. It was simply beyond the dullard. You need boldness to go for victory every game and not hide behind the couch when playing "bigger" teams. Moyes was an utter coward.
We'd be in the conference if we had Bobby for that long.

All true, but as you finally admitted the other day, he wouldn't adapt, he might've 'not adapted' us all the way in to the Championship, the way he was going.
Still all in the past now and as such is moot...just another in a long line of nearly men.
Moyes was the nearly guy. Got us into the CL but was clueless when in. Martinez would be the never guy, all bluster with no end product.

Couldn't agree more 4th gets you no trophies I was just baffled to how he comes to the conclusion that 5th is better than 4th just because his hero EL blago Martinez finished 5th

We got 72 points and the best football since the 80's when "Martinez put down his own stamp".

Bloody hell Dave, not everything Martinez did had to be a raging success. Just take the L on this one

You're like those Kopites who tried to spin Crystanbul as some kind of glorious moment because they were showing such "attacking spirit" to try and get the goal difference down

Martinez made some questionable signings, namely Shani and Alcaraz, there's no shame in admitting that

I didn't 'finally admit it the other day', I conceded that dont years ago.

As for 'into the Championship'. Pfffft! Mid-table...at worst.

Like it or lump it: Martinez got us playing ou best football since Kendall/Harvey were in charge, and no Everton manager in the next decade or so will send us out to win 21 times in the PL like Roberto did.

Jesus wept, do you just flit from thread to thread cracking one off over Martinez?

Have a day off lad for the state of your mental health.

I didn't 'finally admit it the other day', I conceded that dont years ago...revisionism; you wouldn't hear a word against him and would concede nowt Re. adapting 'the philosophy'

He didn't get the sack for his first season...he got 2 more seasons and the last one was why he got the sack.

But the point was he made us some money - which was true.

...made money; raised the bar which all future Everton managers need to get to if we want a points total that places pressure on the elite for CL spots; gave us a few exciting days in cup competitions.

In three years that's in now way a disaster. Anyone saying it was is talking out of their arse.

I’d say Moyes raised the bar of successive top 6 finishes and 6 top 6 finishes in total. Unfortunately no manager since has been more than a one season wonder.

Oh and back on topic, Onyekuru will be the new Tarashaj, who was the new Velios.

Moyes did a good job. There's no denying it. He was and is a dog of a coach though.
