I was just reading how he made a game-saving block for Rovers last night. I was surprised when he was released as he would surely be the back up centre-half now had he still been around.

Well yeah, he got back on the line and stopped the ball from going in, decent bit of defending.

But he was let go because he didn't fit into the managers plans, which was fair enough really.

He could have been a decent back up defender and i'd like to have kept him, but hopefully we have others who also will but fit the way the manager wants to play so they stayed and he didn't.

He played for us in Europe as a kid and partnered Distin. In that game to me he had everything, he read the game, covered like an old hand, had speed and great heading ability nor was he restricted by being predominantly one footed. The lad had that fluke injury and never regained the heights he had achieved which was a great pity. If I recall I wrote a glowing tribute to him on here. He was streets ahead of Alcaraz but it seems the powers that be thought it better to release him which as matters stand now is a shame but hindsight is the least valuable thing I know.

Serious injury he had to.lucky he was able to come back from that and have the career hes having.respect to the lad.
