Dario Terracotta

Player Valuation: £70m
Got to say all season and yesterday being a case in point they have in the main let us down, barring Coleman, the likes of Jags(I won't regurgitate my feelings on him as skipper)Baines,Rooney(if he's not "up for a game"he just coasts through it, no fire in his belly anymore),We need bad losers, fellas who are in the oppositions and officials faces, been sick of us for years getting walked all over through being meek and mild, they've all had good livings out of the club, but they are well, well past their sell buy dates, they all "talk the talk"but I am sick of hearing rallying calls and how they will put things right,"mañana"eh?A new broom is required at the end of the season, boardroom, management and playing staff.

There was a moment in the second half where Laporte, I think, went in late on Pickford who then jumped up to get in his face.

Laporte turns his back and jogs the length of the pitch to LCB without even a word from our other players.

No tenacity, instead an abject performance which to me said that the players didn't believe in the way they'd been set up and had accepted defeat.

Case in point mate, you see more from the kids Calvert-Lewin,Davies,Kenny,something went off at a game earlier in the season and they were at least protesting, having a go, meanwhile Jags and co were in the other half tying their laces(n)

Apart from the odd blip here and there, it's been like this since the 80s. Too many players who don't demand enough either of themselves or others. And managers who feel we should know our place. As furious as I was with Moyes' knife to a gunfight remark, I couldn't bear Smith's permanent, unspoken suggestion that we were beneath his station and he was doing us a favour. Koeman had a similar demeanour, and I don't think Allardyce is much different. Moshiri's remark that Burnley was the only unexpected defeat shows it's a club culture.

Yep,good point mate, it's the acceptability, almost resigned to failure attitude I and many others of a certain vintage find hard to take, when you have seen what we were and what we have become.

Jags putting in the big heavy tackles yesterday was too little too late, they should have been going in from the off to unsettle the likes of Sterling, the game iwas embarrassing and painful to watch, I feel Rooney has had a negative affect on the team framework this season as 3 manager's have had to keep shuffling the pack to accommodate him whilst not really knowing his best position, my case in point being we ripped them apart last season without him yet we looked like a Sunday league pub team yesterday.
Rooney isn't the only reason we lost yesterday but it's certainly part of the big picture where the OP's point is correct, we haven't been able to rely on the senior players like we have in the past, othe o more successful clubs manage to offload players at the right time we give them contracts for way past their sell by date.

Laporte never touchd him, just pickfird is the most cowardly keeper in the league

Exactly. These players are in the land of make believe I think as well as total denial that its their lack of application that's the major factor in these pathetic displays and our unrest. Its not as if we cant take defeat...Christ knows we've had enough practice. We can when the team has given 100% (when was that of late ?) and got stuck in and beaten fair and square. But its the unconcerned, dilatory attitude of the so called "Professionals" that is hard to take. Senior experienced players earning millions who : stroll around the pitch as though theyre taking it easy cos theyre playing against toddlers; leave chasms of space for the opposition like the parting of the Red Sea without any attempt to even close the space down never mind effect a tackle; are constantly in the wake of the opposition because of total indiscipline in covering with the usual shoulder shrugs and faux outrage after the balls in the net. They play like a team of strangers and God knows what a shambles the training regime must be. Its about time they were told straight... not given tacit approval by this manager who highlights the strength of the opposition to mask the cowardly display in royal blue.

We need a proper captain, a bully of a centre back or two and someone in midfield. Our captain is too nice, our centre backs are scared and our midfielders don't tackle.

I think this stems back to the Martinez era. You look at Pep he has got rid of zabaleta kolorov and Sagna. All players capable of making our 1st team and replaced them without sentiment. We need a ruthless manager who also knows his game and a good man manager. We have some good young talent. Martinez had a opportunity to rid some senior players and change the face of the football club but he was too soft and they
Eventually threw him under a bus. Koeman was a bully who didn’t have the man management skills who sulked his way to the sack. Now we have a manager who’s a million miles away from a progressive manager like Pep. I feel we are further away from top 4 than we have in a long time. But we’ve got some good young talent. I would make a point of playing a team of players under 25 including subs be with the exception of Walcott Baines fumes Mori Coleman Baines and Tosun. Baines only because we’ve got no one else and that includes squad players. Players like vasic and Lookman would flourish under a manager like Pep. We need a radical rethink and a longer term plan. The seasons over and I wouldn’t play Morgan in a blue shirt again. Making a few blocks in a game doesn’t constitute a 25 million signing. At least Rooney has weighed in with sone goals and assists.

The problem is Dario, modern football does not really breed that type of player anymore.

These kids are all millionaires by the time the reach voting age and are more concerned with maintaining their own stats than worrying about actually losing a game of football :(
