I reckon we have one of the most divisive first team squads in the Premiership.
In the old boys corner you have players from Moyes’ era who reckon that the backs against the wall/odd win at home under the lights at home against a top side and short foray into Europe gives them folklore status.
Then you have an influx of recent overpriced misfits who have been bought by failed managers on inflated salaries who’s ability on the pitch doesn’t match their ego’s. The old boys don’t reckon they know what it’s like to play for Everton. The new boys shrug and reckon the reason they are here is Because the first mob weren’t good enough.
Then we have the young lads. Some are local, some have been here so long they are adopted as local, some have won more than the first two groups put together but they know that to get on they have to fit in with the established group which is under transition.
We’ve had new Sky Money, a new owner who comes across as a modern day Don King without the hair, cigar or the showmanship but he’s definitely the frontman if this current circus.
Where do we go from here? Not sure to be honest. We ain’t very good that’s for sure and phasing our an ageing nucleus with mercenaries like Schniederlin and Siggy won’t bring about the stability the Mosh King and the ever smiling, ever present Theatre entrepreneur talk so gazingly about.
For them, it’s about the dough to be made on the docks. For the failures on the pitch they’ll look elsewhere. Sam won’t last, Walsh can’t last, those ageing pro’s know they are last and for the rest, we’ll have to wait and see.
