Selling Beckford was a mistake

It's just, I didn't understand it then... and I still don't understand it now.

He came from League 1 and in his first full season was scoring goals and finding his feet in the Prem... then we go and sell him? The guy didn't even want to be sold!

Since then we've brought Straq in he's contributed precisely [Poor language removed] all so far.. be it his fault or not. What was Moyes actually thinking?

In terms of our threadbare squad and chronic lack of reliable forwards, it was definitely a bad move.

In terms of our financial situation, it was probably a necessity.

Are you saying that you wouldn't take £4m for Jermaine Beckford?

Glue?

Seriously though, I know what you mean. What I think this thread should be called is 'We Shouldn't Have Sold Beckford....And Not Got A Replacement In.'

Beckford was sold last season against Wolves when he had a whinge at Moyes for being subbed 3.0 up to be honest.

Add that we need to pay the banks....

Then we should have sold someone we didn't need. Rather than someone who 's only crime was to make Moyes' tactics look stupid.

It depends on whether Moyes had a choice in selling him. I'm not totally sure how it went, but to be left with Vellios, Straq and Saha til January really worries me. You could add Cahill to our strikers list as he's more than often up and around there, but he hasn't scored in 10 months or something like that. Between the 4, I see about 12 goals this season

We definitely made a mistake getting rid of one of Beckford or Yakubu.

And yes, bring back AJ FFS.

To be honest, after the wolves incident, I was surprised that Beckford even survived to get to the next training session. Really liked him when he was here though, nabbed ten goals i think which isn't to bad for someone loitering in league 1 for most of his career.

But you can't jump the gun, surely? As I said, he was scoring and looking to kick on by all accounts and even the sale suprised him at the time.

The last part of your post though, in this case, is the most factually correct. I'm not knocking Denis, I'm sure he's working hard, but for him to be consistently overlooked by Moyes and not exactly making heads turn in the reserve games he's been involved in (has he actually scored for us in any capacity yet?) it's looking like he's a bit of a dud in all fairness.. NOT a Beckford/Yak replacement!
