I think Coleman's crap, myself.

If he's the future then I'm not very excited.

He's not crap; he's just not being played in his correct position. Ever.

That's a Moyesie special by the way. He'd sign a striker and play him right back for three years for a laugh.

Agreed. Lacks the vision for the game and tackling ability to be a top full back. Also comes up with a lot of silly fouls that could hurt us in the long run of things.

So sell 2 kids under 23, and bring in 2 30 year olds !!

A pair of 23 year olds for a pair of 30 year olds who would go straight into the first team and most likely have us qualifying for Europe the following season.

Face the reality, we can't afford to buy young and top class players. If we want players of a Dempsey or Donovan calibre they either have to be older or we have to sell our best players to finance them, see Lescott.

I'd rather sell Rodwell (who has done little to impress for at least a year and a half) and use the money to get Pienaar and Dempsey on permanent deals.

He's refering to Rodwell (I can't tell if you're being sarcastic haha).

I honestly think Rodwell's done here. Not because he's not good enough, but because our system wouldn't work with him, Gibson and Fellaini in it. Cahill's also started playing deeper (refer to Stoke game) and playing more of a box-to-box mid. Maybe try and con Tottenham into thinking they'll need him their European campaign .. Either way, his price will depend on how well he does at the Olympics.

As for Coleman, like many people have said before he needs to have a chance at RB. If he gets one and doesn't cut the mustard, then move him on. If he does, happy days.Basically, shift Rodwell and Vic for as much as possible, bring in Dempsey and Pienaar and use the incentive of having Dempsey to lure Landon back. I'm sure the club would be able to work something out with Nike, as having 3 Americans in the starting line-up would boost shirt sales in the US and give the game overall better exposure over there. Plus they're our kit sponsor too which would help further themselves in the worldwide market (one would assume).

I see what you did there

Agree with this. People are banking too much on potential of players. Players who continually are getting hurt and can't stay in the lineup. If we wait around forever to sell them, we'll get nothing then compared to what we could get when that potential is still there.

I would much rather have 2 players that make an immediate impact and continue to play at that level for 3-4 years that wait around hoping someone comes through on their potential.

We can't play him in his 'correct' position because his reading of the game is awful and he dives in with stupid tackles like the one on Gerrard in the semi final which cost a goal. I do think he'd be more effective running from right back but, at the moment anyway, he hasn't got the right mental attributes to play there.

This. And waiting with Coleman isn't going to hurt us in the long run. He's no gem, but a quality squad player that if given time to mature his decision making and improve his defensive abilities could be a decent fullback.

Yes, he was signed as a fullback, but coming from a much lower league, you wouldn't expect him to be a finished product just yet. I think giving him time is the best thing, but as for now, we still need a RB.

He did play right back at blackpool, getting good reviews I see to remember, much like Kyle Walker did before making the rb spot his own at tottingham, even tho Kyle Naughton was the lad everyone seemed to rave about out of the 2 when they left Sheffield. I did think Moyes would have given him a bit of a run there. As has been pointed out Coleman is prone to the defensive error and giving the odd penalty away so Moyes plays safe.

With zero resale value.

Which, long term, cripples us as we need to sell players to finance transfers. In turn speeds up the selling of the younger key players eg fellaini.

It also means we have to rely on the youth system which in our case is a massive risk...and wed end up selling them anyway if they broke through.

Id be worried if that happens.

I can't see him selling Coleman as there won't be too many offers for him. If offered a million I think Everton would take it, simply based on the economics of it, but I don't see an offer even that small coming in for him. He's still very much an unknown quantity.

I think there's a similar situation with Rodwell, in that the 15 or 20 million pound offers that were mooted a year or two ago couldn't possibly exist any more, because of his injuries and lack of action. I can't remember the last time I saw Rodwell play, let alone have a good game.

If anyone's gonna go it's gonna be Fellaini. He's quality and is sure to interest some of the top teams. I think it's only a matter of time before an offer comes in that EFC can't refuse.
