Selfie Sticks at the match

Lad next to me at the match spent most of the 2nd half filming us whenever we crossed the halfway line, then viewing what he had filmed (plus commentary out loud for the rest of us to hear). Seriously, why effin bother going the match? So was glad to hear that Spurs and Arsenal have banned bad meffs from using selfie sticks at the game: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-30719592
What do you reckon? An unnecessary limit on personal freedom? Or a sensible response to technologically antisocial behaviour?

Should have filmed him on your video and then posted it here for us to laugh at him

*disclaimer, unless it actually was Damo, who would want image rights or something.

I haven't seen selfie sticks at GP, but the lad wasting his time at the game last night just bemused me. The only time he looked up at the play was to whinge (loudly). Glad it was a cup match because he won't be there for the league games.
As for the selfie sticks.... like the technological equivalent of somebody with one of those jester hats sitting in front of you. Not compromising your safety or enjoyment, but annoying nonetheless. And if you're an arl'arse like me then it doesn't take much to annoy.

Honest question though, why does it matter?
It doesn't really matter, it's just something that people who don't go to a match very often seem to do. There seemed to be loads of people filming with tablets and the like last night and, though I can understand the novelty of it, it does get right on my man mammaries.

It could be that I'm just a miserable old bugger, but the fact that other people hate it, gives me a warm feeling inside.

I just think if I saw someone with a selfie stick at a game I'd say 'oh look there's a guy with a selfie stick' and then keep walking and never think about it ever again.
