"The Champions League could become the knockout cup of the European League, which would be the real European competition, whatever you wanted to call it.

"So, like the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia and the Premier League and FA Cup you have the European League and European Cup. There are fewer games, and all the best players in the world are involved. It would be like the NBA of football."

lol. That's the NFL. TOUCHDOWN!

Who gives a sh1t. We will not be involved nor will the RS. The UK entrants will be Utd, City, Chelsea & Arsenal. Good. Get rid of that lot and let's have a proper league again.....

Makes so good point about the Europa League, Saying that maybe the winners should get a place in the CL

ha, let them rot............in a meaningless league. cant see any english teams joining that rubbish, corruption etc. would be suicide for them and who would be stupid enough leave our league to gamble on something thats got no merit

Anyone who favours a european league because of "the quality of football" should really be used for bayonet practice, but watching the ex-G14 clubs **** off into the moneyed sunset would probably rescue football as we know it in most of Europe.

THIS

OK we might lose a few of the teams who we have "big" games against, United and Chelsea games and what have you (I enjoy those games like), but it surely would mean some semblance of normality back in the English league, good thing no ?

It would be terrible.

After Sky pulled its money out every team in the whole Football League would fold overnight.

I know what you're saying mate. But I'm a staunch believer that the game and club I love were far better off prior to Sky having any involvment.

I understand that Premiership football is now a far more attractive "product" and the standard of football is probably a lot better than what it's ever been. But I like football as a culture, way of life, and something I can pass on to my kids.

Not something that a load of get rich quick merchants see as an easy ride/gravy train and way to a fast buck.

This.

Considering we've already used next sesason's sky money, imagine if in the next couple of years Sky gets bored with the Premier League and uses all it's cash for the new Europe League or whatever. Bye Bye Ebepton.

There's more chance of clubs going to the wall since SKY have been involved in the game

But every club is now reliable on Sky. Without Sky, it would be very hard to even have a professional league. And the clubs would fold due to unpaid debts. It really would be game over.

NO doubt my friend, I know that and wholeheartedly agree.

However, I can only surmise that the formation of a European Super League would have to be established over a period of time with contingency plans in place for every one of the clubs who SKY has contractually agreed to provide income to over this sustained transitional period.

Basically, if SKY pulled the plug tomoorow, then yes, we would all go t!ts up. If though they wanted to form a gradual breakaway of there favoured clubs and leave the rest of us to be self sufficient and on a level playing field so to speak, I'm fairly confident that Everton could cope. And progress.
