What are your memories of the Screen Sport Super Cup competition that was a so called replacement for the English teams banned from Europe after Heysel. I went to them all that season. The crowds were as you would have expected being very low. I remember the two legged final against the enemy, didn't they play it the following season due to a fixture congestion?

I don't remember that. I recall both the Simod Cup and Zenith Data Systems Cup with a strange mix of fondness and disdain though.
At one stage the ZDS Cup was the jewel in the crown of Sky's football coverage, how times change.

Me too Bally, the best game was at Old Trafford, think we won 4-3,then beat them at GP with Frank Stapleton scoring a bizarre own goal, can remember us beating Norwich, the final was two legged, half empty grounds at both the Pit and Goodison, they beat us in both, what I do recall is how that lot "celebrated" when they won it and appeared to want to rub our noses in it,this a competition that arose from the ban and their own misdemeanours a few short months earlier.

A good evening that, could and should have been an even bigger score line.

Remember playing Spurs at home for some reason. We won and Waddle missed a sitter or two. Ending up playing in that after being the best team in the country. It could only happen to us that.
