Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín (“No”) is in negotiations to direct the new “Scarface” movie for Universal Pictures and Marc Shmuger's Global Produce, TheWrap has learned.

“Scarface” will reimagine the core immigrant story told in both the 1932 and 1983 films. Universal's update will be an original story set in modern day Los Angeles that follows a Mexican immigrant's rise in the criminal underworld as he strives for the American Dream.

All you do is point the finger and say that's the bad guy! So say goodnight to the bad guy because you will never see another bad guy like this in your life.

Tens of millions of dollars and thousands of hours of time will be spent on something that everyone who sees it will think is vastly inferior to the original. Go Hollywood!

Say hello to my little friend... again. 'koff hollywood and whilst your at it go and unmake that abortion of a job you did on the Italian Job.. oh and The great escape, Total Recall, Dredd, Carrie... Can't be bothered... Here's a list of 50 films being remade. Some already out mind you.

How about making something new up you lazy gits.

Have we ran out of stories?

No, its just that the studios are too lazy to look for actual stories that might be worth watching.

Take for example Vin Diesel's heroic attempts to get a trilogy about the life of Hannibal filmed, which could concievably be amazing as long as they got a superb director and decent actors involved (ie: they dont get Diesel to act the lead or direct it as he currently wants), and yet which has had no real progress in ten years despite the overwhelming richness of the material.

if they remake the Warriors I will hunt down and kill everyone of them
CAAAAAAANNNNNNN YOUUUUU DIGGGG ITTTTTTTTT

Fair play to Vin Diesel on that, Hannibal is such an epic story, maybe better suited to a series format like Spartacus, I can just see Vin Diesel on top of an elephant leading his horde, while wearing oakleys

I think they already did mate, straight to DVD or something, hell, they remade assault on precinct 13. I hate them remaking small budget classics, ruins all the charm
1st Assault on precinct 13 iloved the second one gave my dvd film aids
