Scam calls from Asia claiming to be BT re internet...

I've had loads of these recently. all from people with Indian/

May sound a daft question, but what’s the scam ?

Is it just another way of trying to get your bank details ?

I've had loads of these recently. They try to get access to your computer by asking you to press buttons and give them codes. Because if you tell them the code they can confirm it and prove they are from BT. When I helpfully point out that they should be telling me the code so I can confirm it, they try to bluff their way through (I never turn the laptop on I just tell them I've done everything they have said) I usua;;y end up telling them they are wicked people and to F off after playing along with them. And @Zatara they all have had Indian sub continent accents. This actually makes me worry if these people are being forced into doing it as some sort of forced labour because I cannot understand why somebody would choose to do this.

I actually prefer the ones who tell me there is a warrant out for my arrest for tax fraud. They are posing as tax inspectors. I have never failed to have one hang up on me after I have asked which Court has issued the warrant and what grade they are in HMRC,

I sometimes answer the phone to them saying ‘it’s done, but there’s blood everywhere!’ They quickly hang up.

Sometimes I answer in Welsh; other times I try to ask the caller if we can discuss the matter over coffee, and I further ask them if they believe in sex before marriage, and if so, do they act on their beliefs?
