I was 25 when i got a Scalextric and that was for my son,I had Fuc* all when i was a kid (n)

My wife said she always wanted a train set when she was a kid but her parents only ever got her girl stuff. I brought her a train set for her 40th birthday, she loved it and still has part of it set up on her dressing table.

most had either one or the other. i had an inter city 125 high speed (snigger) train set and was thus not interested in scalextric, kids have one but it's almost impossible to keep the cars on the track, no doubt if it was one of the £200 ones it would be a bit better.

I had both coz i was spoilt, the scalextric loses purely because the cars used to fly off the track if you went too fast, therefore good old train track wins!!

Oh dear. You think Formula One drivers drive at full speed the whole time? Lol!!

Scaletrix wins hands down, unless you have not one ounce of skill in your poor deformed pudgy little hands, then I guess a train set is ok! :p

Me and my brothers inherited all my dads stuff when we we kids, then got some more modern stuff of our own, but still the proper traditional stuff, not this tacky stick-to-the-track stuff you get nowadays. When I moved into one of my first houses after uni with some mates the loft had been all redone, plywood flooring and nothing up there, so we built a made four lane track up in the roof! Was ace but dead cold in winter! :(

Scalextric every time, i used to love spraying flammable liquid to the track and then setting fire to the back of the cars and watching the track light up in flames as the cars went along.

The idea of a train going endlessly around a track next to not-to-scale farmyard animals? ******* yawn. Racing sports cars against your mates which inevitably fly off & go skidding across the room? Yes please.

What have a Scalextric & a set of boobs got in common? They're both designed for kids but played with by adults

Yep a trainset is boring unless you build a super big layout and have lots of trains to play around with.

Now scalextric that is far mor involving, all about control if you want to get round the circuit without coming off. What on earth do you guys do in real cars, never use your brakes??????????

It's simple, ease off, let your mate speed off quickly & then go flying across the living room, while he's getting the car you get ahead then he flies off again & again because he's trying to catch you. When you realise this & your mate doesn't it's hours of fun
