They were superb against Atletico, fast fluid football, skill, touch. I couldn't believe that after that match they never kicked on..

I think they were reaaly up for a bit of revenge for the Europa League final there.

I get the feeling they let Llorente and Martinez go for big money to contribute to the cost of the stadium and basically rebuild the squad. Bilbao finished 14th this season I think. Seems they've fallen a long way since getting to the Europa League Final...Still an ace team and ace place though...

Was it the board or Bielsa who were so stubborn about keeping hold of him last summer? That really messed their season up a bit, effectively losing their best two players.

Herrera and Munian haven't pushed on that much either.

It was probably the board - they were really stubborn about keeping Martinez as well, even though Bayern met his release fee they tried to make him (Martinez) pay it himself, and potentially incur a massive tax bill as a result
