Said nothing but good things about him...well said that he’s better than Pardew.

Anyway, he finished the chat by saying ‘enjoy your new Allardyce era’ to which I said ‘it won’t be as good as your Allardyce era, that’s the problem’. He said ‘give him 8 years and you’ll get back in Europe’. I hung up laughing my head off.

As a side note. Be did say that Anthonee Robinson is really good and will play for England one day. Another left back we’ve let go FFS!

He does get a lot of unfair grief.

Based purely on his managerial ability, he's definitely competent.
