Got the team playing the best it could.

I remember big Sam saying after another typical poor performance last season “I told the players how we need to play and what to do, it’s not my fault if they do the opposite”.

Now that either tells us that the players we have would just rather play their own way regardless of how the manager wants to set them up. Or, they have a complete mental block as soon as they cross the white line and then just completely bottle it on the pitch.

Seeing as though these players have been through four managers now I’m being to feel it’s deffo 50/50 for each.

Question is now how do you address this. The only answer I can find which is what most have said is we just need a massive clear out. But with only two weeks to go until the window shuts it’s probably not gonna be until next season.

The points and position don’t say that mind. By the end of Bobby’s reign we were 13th and getting hammered left right and centre. The players had clearly stopped believing in his hyperbole.

Sam 8th after taking over in 13th

We're not going downhill objectively, we've been middling for 4 years now but last couple of seasons have improved league positions. The football under Sam I grant you was the worst we've ever seen, and the squad we have now might be the worst we've had since the Walter Smith-era.

But half of the Prem are even worse than we are, top 10 is probably in the bag.

Middling we are, middling we stay.

I agree, but I think that’s the problem- the players stopped believing but we had ‘good’ players. Now I feel the squad is a mess, we don’t have a spine which is good enough, and we could still get hammered if we try to attack.
