Salary Caps: Needed?

The other people in this mess are the agents. I've always been of the opinion that it should be centralised with negotiations being handled by the relevant Authorities (i.e. a mediator who works for the FA), rather than a thiord party who, in most cases, is working for themselves rather than their clients. This is a pipe dream of course, but i'd love to get rid of the scummy agents from the game

Quite possibly another reason we can't seem to recruit well. Utd had to chuck a reported 40M at Mino Raiola to get Pogba and probably another good chunk at the same guy for Lukaku. It's the nature of the beast and for all the talk of scummy super agents there are plenty of professional footballers at all levels who have been served very well by good agents not letting them being taken for a ride by equally scummy clubs.

Take agents out and that money will still find it's way into someones pocket. You won't see price drops or any benevolence.

There is no reason a club should be allowed to have 70 players with a professional contract.

I think a salary cap would ultimately be the best way to go. Made American HandEgg far more competitive, and thus compelling. However it would destroy English football in European Cup action.

The ship sailed on that a long time ago and $$$ clubs rule and ruin everything.

Squad limit makes sense.

And while we're at it, smash this Manchester City model of allowing the same groups to set up clubs in different leagues as a way of storing players.

Fun fact: Chelsea's longest serving current player is goalkeeper Matej Delac. He has never played a minute of first team football for them and has had 10 loan spells in 7 years.
