Just curious if anyone knows what the players in the lower leagues make? Championship? League 1? League 2?

Yo Johnny

Can only tell you Beckford was earning 8k a week at Leeds and similarly last year at Leeds when they were in League 1 they where looking to shift a few fringe players earning £800 per week- a better supported club than most in that division- so bar wealthier owners at other clubs League 1 & below, the average for most clubs will be below that. You've got some biggish teams in the Championship so I wouldn't expect many to be below Blackpools current 10k per week limit bar the likes of S****horpe,Doncaster etc.

Saw something on our boards recently from a fella who claimed that his brother is Mat Lawrence's agent. Lawrence is ex Fulham and Palace and is now at Gillingham. Whilst with us, according to the post, he was on £7k per week. No idea if this included add ons ( appearance money, win bonus etc) or just a basic. Probably not the top earner, I would guess (complete guess), that both Speroni and Ambrose are currently on around £10k per week which might have long term incentive bonuses, (staying up etc.)
Also heard that two years ago AFC Wimbledon (average gate about 3.5-4k) while still part time, and in Conference South, were paying their top man £600 per week.

Thats not bad going for a non-league player- so up to 10k sounds about right to you then Alan for Champ clubs?

Thanks guys. As an American the weekly thing always throws me because we quote per year not per week. When you quote weekly wages is that x 52 weeks or just during the season?

Also it's weird, because athlete's contacts are all public record over here. It doesn't seem to be that way over there. Seems like we all know what the top earners make, but it seems random what's made public and what isn't.

You'd think so considering our players are on 50% tax rate see how many billions our own government where raking in then. it is x 52 weeks basic, like Alan no idea on bonuses etc but they ares still on a double the UK average national wage at £800 a week- nice work if you can get it. As I was saying the other day elswhere- Tony Hibbert is a multi-millionnaire from doing something he's not particularly good at.

Rumour has it, local legend Bo Henriksen was earning 1k a week when Kidderminster Harriers were in League 2

Probably still better money than most of those guys can get working a real job.

Oh easily, this was about 7 or 8 years ago I guess too. The man was a legend, he used to play with us down the park in the summer, ha. We're chums on facebook =)

He was definitely the highest player Harriers had at the time, and I know a lot of the other players had other jobs or owned businesses. One ex Harriers player was even playing for my team last season. We certainly didnt pay him anything =)

I read somewhere that Torres is on £600 per week. That's the Crawley one not the lady one.

Pretty nice when you can make a decent living playing for Crawley Town. I'm sure those guys are getting a nice bonus for playing at Man U in the next round of the FA Cup too.

I'd like to see you do better!

Quite :D

In all honesty he's not as bad as some we've had in the past and it was probably an injury around 2003 that halted his later progress- doesn't make my top 3 worst players of Ian Wilson, Mike Milligan & Brett Angell so not all bad.

I play for my local club and I get paid with 4 free pints after the game and a curry.

Do you think I should put a transfer request in?
