Fair enough mate I never met him,I know my arl fella and oldest brother were devasted when he passed,I suppose we as blues never forgave the everton are tragic thing
A bit before my time but was that during the celebrations for their first European cup win?

I remember driving home after spurs beat us at Goodison and they were in a relegation battle as well as us and Peter Johnson was on the football phone in with St John and Derek Hatton and Hatton was kissing his arse when he was saying "it's blend not spend","yes peter we had a good discussion the other week" replied Hatton and St John absolutely destroyed him,"if you dont spend youre going down are you so blind you cant see it listen to your fans" always respected St John and always will

Each to their own I suppose. I always felt he was a bit condescending towards us.

I've never got that from him me even when Howard passed his words were genuine and really touching however he is a red and we know those are naturally up themselves.........and he played for shanks but I do find it difficult to pigeon hole him with the Aldo's of this world

Still hum the theme tune on a Saturday morning. Pre-Sky it was my televisual treat of the week, though Granada Soccer Night was brill cos Dad let me stay up later for that (thread for that show?).

God, I loved that Baddiel And Skinner 'Fantasy Football League' show - and 'Saint And Greavsie Talk About The Endsleigh League As If It's Important' was one of their classics.

I remember when they had Eddie Cavanagh on 'Phoenix From The Flames', recreating his pitch invasion. Magic stuff! :D

Found some new videos of Saint & Greavsie shows!

First one is from the day we were presented with the league title, Saturday 9th May, 1987. Joined in progress but with an Everton feature and interview with Howard Kendall. The Kendall interview is so funny in hindsight. Talking about how he would be discussing a contract extension with Carter, when we all now know (via various autobiographies) that he'd already decided to leave for Bilbao at that point. There's also an interesting bit on Aston Villa being relegated, which is ironic given what's happening in 2016:

Also some episodes from during/just before major tournaments:

June 9th, 1990 from Rome, Italy during World Cup 1990. One of my favourite eras in history. I remember rushing home from school to see Scotland vs Costa Rica, and it was followed by England vs Republic of Ireland that night too:

Just before Euro 1992, from June 6th, 1992:

There's an interview with Robert Limpar (Anders brother) on that show, as Robert was a groundsman at the Rasunda Stadium in Stockholm. That stadium closed in 2012, and a new stadium opened, the 50,000 seater Friends Arena in 2012. Amazingly, after all these years (24 years later), Robert Limpar is still the head groundsman at the new ground.

Went to see them in the early eighties in a Q&A session at Falkirk, 2 genuine guys who love their football, they were entertaining and Greavsie was very forthright and honest about his alcaholism.
Shame that Greavsie hasn't been well of late he was one of the best strikers ever and I always enjoy seeing clips of his goals, he had the rare ability ti virtually walk the ball into the net from any position.

Another funny video, from the December 22nd, 1990 episode. Greavsie had been ill with the flu and couldn't make the show, so they replaced him with the Spitting Image puppet! St John and the puppet presented the whole show. lol
