Saha number change

So good you'll hate his race, haha love it. Although having to share a dressing room with Ashley Cole no doubt sowed the seeds of racial unrest.

Whoa, agenda much? No Saha IS world class and I actually don't think he's been playing badly despite not scoring. Certainly been more effective than Cahill.

Also who else do we play? Vellios? Big ask for such a young lad to start up top on his own.

No agenda, just baffled by how many people are willing to forgive sh*te performance after sh*te performance from him, but other people who have had bad patches get crucified regularly. Yakubu for one, was constantly criticised for being "lazy". Saha, on the other hand, seems to be able to stroll around the middle of the park without getting nearly the same level of vitriol.

As for people playing instead of him, Vellios may be raw, but he's scored more than Saha this season, with a fraction of the playing time, and the notable difference in attitude, chasing down and harrying, means I'd choose him every time.

And Cahill hasn't been in form for a long while, I agree. I don't believe he should be in the side at the moment either, but, for over a season now he has played through injury after injury, and in an unfamiliar position, because he is willing to do what it takes to help Everton. His effort and commitment to us cannot be questioned. Saha on the other hand, refused to play a reserve game, if my memory serves me, which is unacceptable as far as I am concerned, and only further shows his attitude to be one of delusional superiority. Cahill has also consistently been one of our most influential/best players since he signed for us in 2004, which rightly or wrongly, gives him a free pass as regards to me openly criticising him. He has at least earned that from all of us.

Saha is a representation of the fans as a player.
He's absolutely world class, on the odd occasion that he can be arsed.

He absolutely isn't. Yakubu was better in almost every aspect of his game, but he never had the privilege to play Manchester Utd or France, which some people mistake for him being world class. Like the way Neville has always been considered to be such a good player. If Neville had started his career at a Championship side, he would have stayed there. But I digress, this is about Saha. You are right about one thing though, the fact that he can only be arsed on the odd occasion.

I was there v Chelsea 2010 when he single handedly infused John Terry with a burning hatred of black people. I was there v Blackpool when he scored four, having previously never managed a Premier League hat trick. I was there when he scored the fastest ever FA Cup Final goal.

He may not be consistent enough to be labelled a genuinely world class player but as fox said, ON HIS DAY he is unbeatable. Those days are just fewer and fewer coming.

So was I, on each of those occasions. The cup final, he scored within 30 seconds, and then did nothing for the rest of the game. Admittedly, the whole team where pretty poor from that point on, but Saha was anonymous. As for the Chelsea game, he did score twice. I also recall him missing a pen.

I was also at each of the following home games he didn't score in for the next 12 months. May have actually been the Blackpool game? But credit where it's due, scoring 4 in any Premiership game is a feat. Just a shame it has made him even more untouchable since then. You know, in case he somehow manages to do it again.

And I stand by the fact that we are a worse side for having him in it. For a so-called world-class player, or even one who is unbeatable on his day, he misses far too many chances, scores far too infrequently, his hold up play is non-existent, and he can't or won't spread the play like Yak did.

His passing is often poor, and for a front man, lone or otherwise, he is frequently drifting out of position, either playing too deep to be a threat, or hanging on the wing when we require a presence in the centre. He is also injury prone and inconsistent, and as mentioned before, watching his effortless (and I mean that in the bad way, not the Messi-like good way) performances, as he WALKS around the centre of the field while Cahill, and whoever else, chase down the opposition defenders in possession, frustrates me like no-one has since the latter days of Kevin Campbell.

I just think he get's too easy a ride from the supporters when it comes to his performances, and I honestly believe most people are judging him STILL on performnces before he joined Everton, and his potential to do the things he has in the past. Given the stick others like Bily, Osman, Hibbert, even Rodwell, have been getting this season, Saha seems to be untouchable, and it absolutely baffles me.

On his day he is as a good as anything I've seen up front for Everton, and I don't say that lightly. He literally has it all, two footed, a threat in and outside the box, great touch and technical ability, fantastic header of the ball.

The problem is that those days aren't often enough. Whether it's injury, motivation or just plain old age catching up with him.

GET JO ON FFS.

Lol no. His right foot shot is very accurate - shoot blindly and hope for the best. Most of his shots with his right leg are aimed at the sky, happened last game too.

On his day - great. His good days seem to be numbered though, as he seems to be getting progressively worse and his days are occurring once in a blue moon.

You're totally wrong. Saha is extremely capable with both feet.

Youtube isn't great for proving anything, but watch this and tell me he can't shoot with both feet:

I honestly wonder if people actually watch Everton sometimes....

NO HE ISN'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is one of our worst players, and nothing frustrates me more than people talking about what a world-class player he is, and how "if we can just get King Louis fit we'll be OK"...

He is totally ineffective, and has been for the majority of his stay, but he sporadically scores goals to convince people otherwise, usually when he is playing at his worst, and ensuring he isn't dropped or dragged off like anyone else.

The team is worse for him being in it.
ok mate

Okay, true - he is capable and I haven't said he isn't tbf, just said his shots look good power-wise, but most of the time accuracy is something he lacks; at least when he shoots with the right leg sometimes (bar that free kick 5 minutes in) he doesn't really pick a spot, just blasts it forward, as with the left he picks a spot/corner and shoots. Idk if you get what I mean.

Anyway, this year I have yet to see such good shots from him. And I really do want to see. Last game he literally blasted the ball upwards with a volley, I was very confused.

Anyway, dropping this and just hoping he hits form sometimes this year, because when he does you know he's gonna score often.
