If anyone thinks this is all down to the England fans then they are VERY naive.

Huge numbers down there and is there anything easier for the massively outnumbered Locals & Russians than lobbing a few bottles into them all or picking off some on the edges to then provoke a reaction that they know will happen, knowing full well that the local constabulary will happily steam the English as well & lob tear gas etc while the world watches on & blames the English all over again ... including our own gutter press as well.

The events in Lille should make it pretty obvious to every Evertonian of how it works over there, right wing gangs allowed to attack bars before the big numbers arrive giving them an excuse to deploy riot squads that will happily swing the batons & fire off the gas, stun grenades & rubber bullets into the fans.

It's all a bit too easy to do it to English fans & get away with it tbh.

There's doubtless violent muppets who travel with England

Just like there were identified hooligans who travelled with us to Lille.

Other factors (INCLUDING the massive overreaction of French police to English supporters because they seem to think it's still the 70's/80's) make the situations way way worse than they need to be.

Plenty of reports of peaceful English fans in Marseille being targeted by local and Russian organised gangs - just like Evertonians were in Lille.
