Running

No local running club by you that might sponsor you (and others) to do such a race?

I`ve been sponsored once for an ultra a did in the Lakes a few years back and I wouldn`t do it again, due to the hassle of chasing people for the money afterwards and the way some of them tried to get out of paying, even though they`d " willingly " signed up. ( I learnt a lot about some of the circle of people I thought knew well from their attitudes towards paying )

I`m also not a fan of running clubs, due to the way they look down their noses at " social runners " and people who aren`t whippets.

Ah fair, just thought it's one way of sorting out travel/staying over/support etc. isn't it.

How about a GOT running club/scheme...never have to meet except maybe occasionally at some events 😂

You must have very elite clubs near you mate, I haven’t come across any recently that are not welcoming to social runners . Today, particularly with so many female runners around, clubs cater for all categories in my experience. Although of course many people chose not to join a club and stick to lower key events like parkrun.

I do remember back in the early ‘90s enquiring about joining Aberdeen Athletic Club .The Secretary asked me what my 10 km time was , I said around 36 mins and got back : “ Oh you won’t get into our team with a time like that !!” I said “That’s fine by me.” , put the phone down and joined the local hill running club who were muchly fun 🙂

The big one by us wants robots in club, not people.
I see them at races occasionally.
They don’t mix with the other runners, don’t talk to anyone but themselves, are always right at the front on the gun, yet are nowhere near the placings ever 😂

The term for them I believe is running w****rs “ 😂

There is another club that’s more social and open to everyone, but they only train on the road, so that rules me out 👍

Last race of the year at the weekend - Anglesey Trail Half Marathon at Newborough Forest.

Fantastic event, a mix of running on the beach, coastal paths, sandy forest paths and gravel paths, topped off with driving wind and mad downpours.

Pretty much perfect Winter trail running conditions 😂
Looks great, a good one to sign off the year with!
On my 'to do' list, is some trail running along the coast. That one a bit of a trek to get to for me.
