Many of you probably know the news about the young lad who is apparently 15/16 threatening to jump off. He has been up there for roughly 12hours now. Apparently a bluenose aswell.

Must be very hard to be in his position now. Must be terrified of what will happen to him if he gets down safely.

Negotiators have been on the scene for about 8hours now, time to get the sack I think!

is it mickm86?

hope he jumps if it is

I think it is called attention seeking mate. If he was serious he would have gone by now.
He will come down eventually and hopefully get the help he needs

Jesus. You'd think if he was going to do it he'd have done it by now. Hopefully as Nik said it's just a plea for help which he should get.

Hadn't heard.

Must have his reasons. I hope he gets down and works them out. Must be something for a young lid to do that at his age!

Aye - And it's blowing a gale outside and lashing it down - Difficult to understand what's going through the lad's head to stay up there

We've had plenty of jumpers off the bridge before, but they normally do it straight away, or get talked down in an hour or so - Never known a situation like this before

Someone who is that young should not be going through this. First I've heard and I've felt like crying hearing it. Something is happening in his life, his mind and he doesn't know how to deal with it rationally. He's very young and he might be going through hell at home, school or in life in general. I really feel for him.

Can you get arrested for this? Surely that won't help his cause.

These negotiators haven't got a clue. They wouldn't know what he's going through

He'd be taken into custody for his own safety I imagine - The police aren't so insensitive as to not recognise that help is required

It's an extremely difficult location to negotiate in - Especially with the weather being the way it is

Shut up you bellend

Shut up you bellend

They haven't. They're not gonna know what's goin through the lads mind and have no idea how to relate to him.

"Shut up you bell end" what a dignified, intelligent, proactive response from yourself. Did you think of that all by yourself or did you ask how many l's are in "bell end"

plenty of people have sadly gone up there before and jumped without making a drama out of it that would suggest it is a cry for help, but, he may have gone up there fully intending to jump then thought, fook this, this is scary, i could hurt me fookin self.

I disagree mate, they will be very well versed in the state of mind he'll be in as it's their job to successfully get him down so they'll need to have a deep understanding of all the facets and type of people/conditions which would put themselves in that situation. Let's hope they're successful with it.

What do you suggest then? He's probably feeling alone and the negotiators are there to help him and make him feel like he's got someone to talk to. They're trained and very clever - they know what to say and often how people are feeling.
