Mad to leave it until less than 12 months out from a WC. England should try and get Lancaster back if he'd go. Andy Farrell would probably fancy it but its a year too early/late now.

He`s got one of the most talented squads for a long time, who`ve been badly underperforming and playing pretty dull and uninspiring rugby too.

If you subscribe to the idea of peaking in time for the tournament, then he's been doing okay - indeed he got it spot on in Japan, demonstrating he knows what he's doing.

The success or failure of this move will be dictated by who they've lined up as a replacement.... Sean Edwards might be who they have in mind: undermines France at a critical point and he's got a cracking track record (as an assistant coach) for making an immediate impact.
