Capello must surely be on the lookout for backup to Joe Hart, since neither Stockdale or Fielding are playing at the highest level. Ruddy is the obvious candidate, especially given his form so far this season. Good luck to him, but it would be a bit sickening to have practically given away England's second choice keeper.

If he does get anywhere near the England team, which is still very primitive talk, then he'll be justified in leaving.

He wouldn't get anywhere near it playing number 2 to Tim Howard would he?

Given that Stockdale and Fielding are only playing at Championship level and Foster, Carson and Robinson have declined the opportunity to play for England, Ruddy can't be too far away from a call up. Even if he was rubbish, there aren't too many English goalkeepers to choose from, especially not in the Premiership, so he should be due a place in the squad by default at least.

He's quite a bit away mate, he won't get called up based on a 94th minute stop at Anfield, no matter how ace it was.

If he's good enough to play Premiership football with Norwich, why wasn't he good enough to be Howard's deputy? Moyes either has too much faith in Howard or not enough faith in his other goalkeepers. He's even reluctant to play international goalies in Carling Cup games.

How can he be? If Stockdale (Ipswich on loan from Fulham) or Fielding (Derby) get injured, who do they call up next? Wasn't it something like a 17 year old last time?

The point is he'd be too good to be a deputy mate, hence him moving on.

Watford's Scott Loach has been fourth choice and Arsenal's 19-year old reserve James Shea was the teenager who got the call up. If I was Ruddy I'd be well miffed to have been overlooked for this long.

I understand why he left us. He was fourth choice behind Howard, Mucha and Turner. Could Moyes have put more faith in him though? City, United and Arsenal have given very young goalkeepers their chance. Is Davey being overly-cautious by having two senior goalies to cover for Howard, who very rarely misses a game?

John Ruddy

What a save!, to stop that horrible little tvvat Suarez in the last few seconds.

On the subject of Suarez, I think he is set to become (or already is) one of the most hated players of all time.
