is it me or are they turning into the new aston villa? overpaying for solid players but nothing special?

49mill spent so far, title here it comes lol
 

Overpaying? Definitely.

But I think "king" kenny, knows what he wants in regards to players.. Makes me sick that they have money to blow like that, and we've bought **** all..
 
I think this is actually a good signing. Much more useful than Henderson or Adam. They suddenly look a bit formidable actually.
 
Again, yes they look solid now, more then we are gonna be...

But champions league? title challenges? not one bit.

there are better, younger and cheaper wingers out there. he's not better than Adam Johnson, millner, or nzogbia just off the top of my head.

but the rs will be saying he's world class now
 

Maybe overpriced but what would i give to see us spunk 20m up the wall on a player and not give a flying
 
I'm not that impressed with who they've bought so far Henderson, 16-20 Million Adam 7 Million, Downing 20 Million that's nearly 50 Million. All three will be solid but wouldn't look out of place in the championship.

If a team spent 40-50 Million in the transfer window I'd hope for something a little more.

Separate to those three "championship" players Suarez looks good no denying.

I'm wondering if they're getting set for Gerrard to be off this summer...

I think it works better if you just admitted defeat and mediocrity with us, like I have.

once that's out the way, critiquing other teams transfers works better because youve nothing to lose lol

This is our money the club is spending. I for one don't want them wasting it on garbage players. Downing is barely any better than Bily.

Lets say signing a new player improves us by 10% in a particular position. Does no one here think it possible to improve the incumbent player in that position by 10% through better coaching/training/diet/whatever? The GB track cycling team were famous for making small improvements in lots of areas, which added up to a big performance leap. Are we saying we can't do likewise and the only way to improve is to spunk money on some over-rated joker?
 
Good player but not worth 20 mill, 8-10 at best. Wonder is darren bent thinking it was agreat move now ?

Well they're not in the champs league anymore, they have to shop at a different level, which means it'll be harder to get back up. Vicious circle that we've also had to contend with. It does very much protect the top teams, if we could get in there two seasons in a row, happy days.

They're lucky they've got cash, and increasing the squad depth will help, but I'm not overly jealous of these three so that says something.
